Reviving Fading Headstones

My passion for genealogy ignited my journey into the restoration of old and weathered headstones in cemeteries. While searching for missing pieces in my family line, I noticed that the names on many headstones were fading away. Witnessing this erosion, I felt compelled to take action.

I reached out to the manager at the State Historic Preservation Office in Salt Lake City, attended numerous workshops to refine my skills, and gathered all the necessary supplies. Since then, I've been dedicated to the meaningful task of restoring these headstones, ensuring that the stories and legacies of those who came before us endure for generations to come.

Meadowville Headstone Project

During my visit to the Meadowville pioneer cemetery, I encountered a striking yet broken headstone. Five pieces lay on the ground, bolts protruding from the base. I felt a strong urge to restore it to its former beauty. After coordinating with the State Historic Office, I’ve arranged for the director to bring in the necessary equipment, allowing us to embark on the restoration journey of this remarkable headstone.
